Stacking

I’m trying to train my brain to realise an important fact:
Almost always, there’s nothing worth reading, right now, anywhere.
That applies to email, Messenger apps, social media, newspapers – everything.
Doesn’t matter if Brexit just happened, all hell’s breaking lose at Westminster – you can read about it with more considered depth and analysis if you just wait. And I don’t mean wait forever, just give it an hour even.
However, once you have allowed these inboxes to stack up, you can rattle through them knowing you will almost certainly find something worth your time.
The bigger the stack, the more likely the number of interesting things within it, and the more likely they will include you are to find ones with more depth.
Pile them high
Previously, I had turned off all notification badges on my app icons, thinking they were an irresistible lure to waste more time in .
Instead, I’ve decided to try something different. I’ve turned them back on to show my stacks building up, so I know how many I’m going to process if I open it.
And I’m training myself not to touch them until the stacks hit 10, 20, 50, 100 – whatever is relevant to that channel.
The one stack to rule them all
Now, if only there was a service that would aggregate them for me in one place, perhaps split across business and personal, to make it even simpler.
Let me know if you have any ideas/ improvements to the system.
