Foursquare already does this through a partnership with Gnip, which sells packaged data from social services like Twitter, but it may go beyond even that as the company is in talks with Yahoo to partner for the company’s location data — though the discussions are still fluid — according to two sources familiar with the matter.
And yet so under discussed. Criminally, on being invited to a Twitter sales session last year, I asked the exec about Datasift and he literally didn’t know what it was. Sums up their current attitude of just selling as many ads to low hanging fruit as possible (this was before ads went self serve.)
